Acoustic vents and waterproof acoustic membranes
Shieldzone acoustic vents use ePTFE acoustic membrane technology to protect exposed sound paths from liquid water, sweat and particles while allowing sound to pass through microphone and speaker openings.
Selection depends on the required frequency range, insertion-loss target, active area, adhesive opening, device sound channel, environmental exposure and assembly process. Final performance must be verified in the complete acoustic structure.
An acoustic membrane is the functional sound-transmissive layer. Acoustic vent commonly refers to the converted membrane component supplied with adhesive, liner or support structure for installation in a device.
